BALINALE 2008 invites Asian Film to participate
 

CHANGCHUN, China, BALINALE Committee invites several prominent filmmakers from around the Asian region to showcase their films at the BALINALE International Bali Taksu Film Festival which will be held in Bali 21 - 31 October 2008. The invitation was officially presented by Deborah Gabinetti, (Chairman of Bali Taksu Foundation) during the four day event of Changchun Film Festival.

At the Changchun Film Festival held in the Chinese city of Changchun, China's Jilin Province, Gabinetti, Indonesian representative and also Vice President of the Asian Film Commissions Network, was honored to join China’s renowned Director, Yu Tien Ming, in presenting the Best Director Award to Xu Geng for his film "Heart of Ice," which also garnered awards for Best Film Music (Zou Ye), and the Golden Deer for Best Film.

It was first held in 1992 and was founded in part by the Changchun Film Studio (now the Changchun Film Group Corporation). The festival is funded in part by the Ministry of Radio, Cinema, and Television, the provincial government of Jilin, and the Changchun municipal government. The festival awards Chinese and other East Asia-region films.

"Good Man" actress Ma Yili accepted the Best Actress award at the star studded awards ceremony for the 9th Changchun Film Festival. The stars arrived to a huge crowd of applauding fans as they walked the time honoured red carpet into the ceremonial venue.

Gabinetti was invited by the Changchun Film Group to participate in the festival with fellow members of the Asian Film Commissions Network Assembly from Japan, Korea, Malaysia and China. At an Assembly held to discuss the organization’s efforts to attract international filmmakers to the region, the Board unanimously agreed to hold a forum of decision-makers on film policies for governments in the region and an invitation to attend was extended to the Indonesian Director General of Art, Culture and Film, Tjetjep Suparman.
